Making Visual Arguments: Who Should Be on Postage Stamp?

After writing your argument about who should be honored with his or her own commemorative postage stamp, design a prototype for your stamp idea.

  1. Study a few models. You can find many example images at—
  2. Make your own stamp. Here is a stamp template to help you.
  3. Finally, explain your design process. Here are some questions to consider: How did you create your design idea? What media (e.g., colored pencils, markers) did you use? How does it show your claim? Who is your audience? What strategies did you use to persuade people that your nominee is an upstander?
